My mum used to tell me lots of stories and read many books to me during my childhood although my reading was a little lazy. I loved fiction, fantasy, science fiction and history as a young boy and wanted nothing more than to go on adventures to distant lands and indeed far off planets.
My first gaming console was a Coleco-vision bought from Hamleys the toy shop in London and costing many months of hard work on my paper round and delivering vegetables for the green grocers, but boy was it work every penny. The game plugged into my tv using a scart plug and Donkey Kong was one of the games that came with it. The gorilla chased Mario around the screen and from that moment I was hooked on video games. Yes, I had played Pong at the local Pizza takeaway with the table tennis paddle to try and beat your opponent and then space invaders came along but this was another level. I could play at home when I wanted and there were intelligent opponents to fight.
